My New “Tiny” Love — Mignonette Dolls

I’ve fallen in love. Truly fallen in love with painting tiny dolls. They are called Mignonette Dolls or Dollhouse Dolls — miniature dolls made for dollhouses, delicate, charming, and absolutely enchanting.

I discovered them quite by accident when I first came across the miniature dolls created by Doreen Sinnett. And what a magical world she created: ballerinas, fairies, fantasy dolls, elegant ladies and gentlemen, children, and even tiny babies… entire miniature families.

Doreen Sinnett sculpted and painted her dolls in such a sweet and recognizable way. Every artist has their own hand, their own artistic voice, and it reveals itself in every form of art. When you spend enough time around a particular art form, you eventually begin recognizing artists instantly through their style, mood, and details.

And of course, artists are defined not only by style, technique, era, artistic movement, or subject matter — but also by scale. Some artists feel most comfortable working on enormous canvases or painting giant murals, while others are drawn to the incredible intimacy of miniatures. And I believe I belong to the latter group.

The faces of these dolls are no larger than a thumbnail — sometimes even smaller. Yet within that tiny space, you try to capture the doll’s character, mood, and personality. It is absolutely fascinating.

What captivated me most were Doreen Sinnett’s antique reproductions: Bru, LF Jumeau, Pouty, and even Francois Gaultier. Painting them is pure joy. These dolls are only 10 to 12.5 cm tall.

Here you will see pictures of dolls painted by me.

I pour them using my own Ultra Chic porcelain, most often in the shade Parisian Bisque, though any color may be used — I currently have 28 shades available. :) By the way, if you need Ultra Chic Porcelain Sample Chips, let me know—info@allfordoll.com—and I’ll send them to you.

The painting is, of course, done with China Paints and kiln-fired afterward.

I also create little photoshoots for them, build miniature trunk suitcases and tiny dollhouses. It’s an incredibly charming and cozy little world to get lost in.

Honestly, you can purchase from me either porcelain bisque kits for creating your own doll or fully painted dolls made by me. I hope you enjoyed it!

You may remember that in my previous post about the “International Doll Convention 2026,” I mentioned winning an already-painted head of a Heubach’s Die Schwester doll in a doll lottery. Well… I finished her :)

 Here she is!

It was wonderful seeing everyone. Wishing you all warmth, happiness, and a beautiful Memorial Day tomorrow! Marina-AllforDoll-MAFD
