Porcelain Dolls by Dianna Effner. The Complete Collection. Part #1

Greetings to everyone :)

Most of you know that I create and paint porcelain dolls using molds by Dianna Effner. Dianna Effner specially created these plaster forms, or molds, starting in the late 1980s, so that anyone—whether a professional artist or simply an enthusiast—could try creating her doll in their own way :)

Practically all of Dianna Effner’s molds were created in collaboration with the company Expressions.

Today we will take a look at the existing molds of her dolls, and we’ll start with the smallest ones.

So, Part One: molds/dolls ranging from 5 1/2" to 8.5 inches tall. And the first three little ones, measuring 5 1/2 inches tall, are Boo Boo, Dolly, and Be Be.

I have the molds for the Boo Boo and Dolly dolls. I have never made Dolly, but I have made Boo Boo. She is So cute :) Here she is...

The next series of dolls, 8 inches tall, is called the “Penny Series.”

It includes 7 dolls: Penny, Piper, Pouty, Polly, Pansy, Poppy, and Pearl. Please note that the names of all the dolls begin with the letter “P.”

They are made entirely of porcelain and come with two types of arms: straight and bent.

I have made all of these dolls except Pearl, as I do not have her mold. For painting, I use specialized paints that are fired in a kiln. To fully paint a face, it usually takes about five firings, and each time the next layer of painting is applied over the previous one, with increasing attention to fine details.

I paint the eyes using Dianna Effner’s painting technique, but every artist has their own “hand,” and that will be felt in my dolls.

And to conclude this topic, there are three more little ones, 8.5 inches tall, from the “Toddlers” series: Dimples, Angel Eyes, and Sweet Thing.

I don’t have the Sweet Thing mold, so I’ve never made this little one, but I have made Dimples and Angel Eyes :) more than once. Dimples:

All of my dolls were poured from Ultra Chic porcelain slip and are made in the Delicate Rose color. Thank you for watching until the end :)
